Devon was accepted to Neumont University in Utah, so Nini and Devon decided to move. It is a great opportunity for Devon, so I’m excited for them. I’m sad that they’re leaving me, but oh well.
We had a BBQ to say goodbye with Trish, Andrew, Devon, Nicole, Bri and I. It was nice weather out and it was nice to have cheeseburgers and hotdogs on the grill.
Sorry for the down time. My web host company, HostMonster.com, decided that I was violating their terms of service and without warning shut me down. Apparently, it’s written in their TOS that you cannot backup any files that do not relate to a website. I originally bought their services because I thought I’d be able to back up work documents. Of course, they didn’t note this little bit of info on any clearly marked locations - it’s in the small print. I guess I’m stupid for not having read the document, but, seriously, who reads all the way through those things?
Anyway, it took me a few days but I finally moved my backups to another site. Once I get some time I’ll be moving all my stuff from HostMonster. I’m not really one to complain (out loud) about bad service, but it just seems to me that they were super unprofessional. I asked them if they could just cut me some slack and un-suspend my account while I moved files. I wasn’t intentionally breaking any rules. I didn’t mind having brihogan.com shut down, since it’s only personal, but I host our business site with these guys. So, for the weekend our business site said, “This site has been suspended.” I don’t know about you, but a business site with that looks bad. So, hopefully we didn’t have much traffic to our site during these last few days.
Anyway, booooo HostMonster!
Would it have been so hard to just email me a few days before you suspendend me to tell me what you were going to do? Their TOS says they have the right to do just about anything they want. But, it just seems super unprofessional.
What do you think? It’s quite possible that I was the silly one for not understanding their rules. I just think that’s something that should be clearly marked. Check out their advertising page http://www.hostmonster.com/hosting-features.htm and tell me if a normal person wouldn’t assume it was storage space for anything you wanted to back up. It’s a little sneay when they write: “Disk Storage: Unlimited”.
Anyone know of any good web hosting companies?
My older sister Nicole got married last Saturday March 7th at the Saint Paul Temple. I’m excited for her and happy to have Devon to be my brother in law. I included some pictures from the day. Congrats Nini and Devon!
My kitties aren’t too happy with me this morning. My brother is allergic to cats, so I washed them all today before he and his family come in tomorrow.
I have been meaning to write a post about this, but keep forgetting. Since December, every time it has snowed, Rob’s good friends Keith and Kurt have been plowing my driveway. It has been fun to wake up in the morning to see my driveway all plowed and I have nothing to worry about! Thank you!
It is so nice to have kitties around. They always make me laugh. Kari does not fit in a shoe box, but she keeps trying to.
