What was your thought process in coming up with your photo?
I wanted a majestic scene that had some inherent beauty. I also felt awe as I shot the bridge and the water since so many people had lost their lives in the collapse of the bridge. I wanted it to appear to be almost tomb like or memorial like to pay respect to them, which I think was their plan in the architecture.
What settings did you use (shutter/aperture, ISO, etc)?
8sec. shutter, 22 Aperture, 200 ISO and Tungsten white balance setting
Did you do any Post Production? If so, what did you do?
Very little - just adjusted tint so it was not so blue and did a little brightness and contrast work in iphoto
What tools did you use (flash, lens, meter, etc)?
Tripod, standard lens, and multiple shots to dial in the settings.
What have you learned from this assignment?
I think I have to brainstorm and research a little more to find a great subject to photograph and then just try to have it look as good as I can.
What would you have done differently now that it’s over?
I would like to get photoshop so I could have removed the camera pole in the middle of the picture and done some other correction, especially with light issues.
Anything else?
It was fun to walk around the areas at night and take a bunch of different locations with various settings. I spent three hours with travel and snapping. I found that I am only getting about 1-2 good pictures out of about 50-100 shots. I am starting to learn the camera by taking so many shots and getting immediate feed back from the camera screen. I don’t think I would get very good if I had to use the old 35 MM film. Thanks for digital!
