Wow. My guessing was so far off! Hahaha
I can’t wait for the next one!
I haven’t even started taking pictures yet for this week’s assignment…..ahhhhhh!
@Brett: You better get on that, son!
@Jen: Me neither!
way to go Devon- I am working on winning “miss congeniality”. This is fun
70 Votes is pretty decent. You go some traffic through here.
@Brett: “got”
General critique of images
I was thinking that since we are all doing this to learn that perhaps a critique is worthwhile. This goes back to may art class days. We all hated it, but it is a way to learn from others.
Devons — I would have liked to have seen a darkened vignette at the end of the bench to cut some of the clutter of the background. A mask would have had to been created to keep the bench from being messed up. Very effective saturation work done on it to have the bench stand out. Nicely done.
The Oh Snap (mine) the mice should have been cleaner to begin with to be able to get a bit more glow off them and not see the finger smudges…
It is an overdone concept… but it was quick and I think it added some levity to the group of images. But I certainly knock it big for not being too original.
iPhone — I would have liked to have seen it cropped in a bit tighter so the iPhone became a bit more of the focus. I liked the image and concept, but the cropping went against it. I liked the heart on the phone, nice touch. I was just distracted by the beautiful model =-)
The bridge picture needed photoshop work to enhance the coloring of the photo — it was a great shot, but lacked the drama that if could have had with a little cranking of the color. The image had the great golden color of sunrise or sunset. This coloring is an orange/yellow, the sky can be made a deeper blue, blu and orange are compliments so they can really pop. Very minor, there is the head of a light at the top of the arch that is a very minor distraction that is easily removed.
The bird picture was a great image. It just did not fit the word assignment as well as some of the others. Lighting was wonderful. I am sure there is a great story to go behind it as to the when, where and how it was done. I envision Mike marching through muck wearing those waders that one would have to go fishing in a stream… has anyone seen him lately? perhaps he is still stuck there…
The lighthouse was one of the nicest shots if I was looking for something that was commercial for an article or for sale. Gorgeous image that stands on its own merits. I am not sure why it did not get more votes. (No I did not put it in as my choice either).
As I said before I would have retouched the bench a little more to use in a publication, but it was certainly worthy of being used.
It is only an opinion and photography is an art form so people can agree and disagree on each image. People will also see images differently given their own backgrounds…
Kent
I like the comments - I’m ok :-). I would be interested to hear from anyone with suggestions - see I am still working on winning the congeniality award.
@Kent: I to liked the comments. Really useful to get some feedback on my picture. I´m also glad to hear that you liked my picture… This photocontest is really a lot of fun… My interest and joy for photography has really come to life with this competition and my new camera…
